Vacation events, lighting and more in the Las Vegas Valley
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – There are many events and exhibits in the Las Vegas Valley for the holiday season.
The twinkling lights of Las Vegas Motor Speedway are a driving experience where visitors can see hundreds of exhibits along the 2.5 mile long course that boasts 5 million LED lights. The holiday show attracts over 250,000 visitors each year and runs from November 11 to January 9. There are a variety of ticket options starting at $ 25. You can find more information on this link. You can receive a $ 5 entry discount by donating “lesser used items” to Goodwill of Southern Nevada when visiting the show.
THE GREAT RACE OF FATHER CHRISTMAS FROM LAS VEGAS
The Great Santa Run in Las Vegas is back in person this year, in addition to being virtual. The Santa Claus Run is one of Opportunity Village’s biggest one-day fundraisers and thousands of walkers and runners participate each year. The in-person event is Saturday December 4 and the virtual event is December 4 to December 26. Click here for more information on how to register.
HOLIDAY CACTUS GARDEN
Check out the annual light exhibit that features a three-acre cactus garden beautifully lit with a million lights. The exhibition will be open every evening from November 5 to January 2. from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Santa will be in the garden every evening until December 23. You can enjoy a holiday chocolate tasting experience, sip hot chocolate and visit Santa. As always, entry is FREE, unless you are a group of six or more, a $ 5 non-refundable donation is required when reserving a garden. There will be no food or toy drive this year. COSMOPOLITAN HOLIDAY SKATING RINK
The rooftop ice rink will be back on Tuesday, November 16 for its 10th consecutive season. True to tradition, the Boulevard pool will transform into a rooftop winter paradise with a 4,200 square foot skating rink made of real ice, seasonal cocktails and culinary dishes, a vacation village with fireplaces for making s’mores and a dining room called The Chalet. There will also be the classic holiday movies projected above the Las Vegas Strip on the resort’s 65-foot marquee.
The ice rink is open Monday to Friday (November 16 – December 17) from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m. From December 18 to January 2, from noon to 11 p.m. There are special times for November 25 and 26 and December 24 and 25. Rail Explorers offers a unique outdoor experience for traveling the rails but in a slightly different way. You can hop aboard a pedal rail bike located a short drive from downtown Boulder City and cycle on a rail line built by Union Pacific to service the Boulder Dam Project. On the way back, you’ll board one of the state’s historic trains. Allow around 90 minutes for the experience. You can read more about the tickets at this link.
DOWNTOWN SUMMER HOLIDAY PARADE, ROCK RINK AND FATHER NOL
Downtown Summerlin kicks off the holiday season on Friday, November 12 with outdoor ice skating at its Rock Rink which is located near the Lawn Pavilion. The 8,000 square foot ice rink will feature holiday music and a 40 foot decorated tree as a backdrop. Skate rentals start at $ 16 and reservations are required. You can do it on this link. There is also a holiday train that goes around the rink from November 19. Train tickets cost $ 4. There will also be a special Hanukkah celebration on December 1.
Downtown Summerlin will also have thousands of decorative lights, buskers and the holiday parade on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. Nov. 19 through Dec. 18.
MAGIC FOREST IN THE VILLAGE OF OPPORTUNITY
The Magic Forest is back this year and is open to the public from November 26 to January 2, 2022. The Magic Forest is festive and for all ages and opens every evening (except Christmas) at 5:50 pm. She is celebrating her 30th birthday. Walk through winter wonderland with millions of twinkling lights, thrilling rides and food. Click here to purchase tickets. NUTCRACKER WITH FULL ORCHESTRA
The Nevada Ballet Theater presents The Nutcracker with a full orchestra. Take a magical journey through a world of waltzing flowers, agile fairies and moonlit snow from December 11-26. Before the show there is The Nutcracker Wonderland experience where a special guest will read The Nutcracker to the kids. Tickets start at $ 30.95. Click here for more details.
