ASHVILLE – Ryan Steven Howard, 48, of Ashville, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, September 22, 2022, following an accident.
He was born on July 12, 1974 in Westfield, NY, the son of Gary L. Howard Sr. and Carol Duryee Howard.
Ryan graduated from Chautauqua High School in 1992 and then attended Ohio Diesel Mechanics Technical College in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked for the City of Stockton as a diesel mechanic and engine equipment operator.
Ryan enjoyed racing his race cars on local dirt tracks, hunting, fishing, jet skiing, snowmobiling, traveling, vacationing, and being a member of the Studebaker Club. Above all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mindy Louise Birdsell Howard, whom he married on July 18, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada; his parents, Gary L Howard Sr. and Carol Duryee Howard of Mayville; six children: Benjamin (Samantha) Howard of Kennedy, NY, Andria (Mark) Eppinger of Ashville, NY, Michael (Christina) West of Ellabell, Ga., Katherine West of Newton, Kansas, Jonathan Turner of Ashville, NY , and Elizabeth (Logan) Turner of Warren, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren: Tucker, Riley, Joseph, Lucas Ryan, Lucas Michael and Waylon; two siblings: Gary (Lisa) Howard Jr., of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and Christy (Hank) Asel of Lakewood, NY; his maternal grandmother, Alice Chambers of Falconer, NY; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by an aunt; Georgiana Duryee Hoesel; and his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Friends will be received for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Freay’s Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The funeral service will be private.
