Police are investigating the murder of a woman in the North East Valley
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are investigating a homicide that allegedly began with a domestic dispute and ended in a shooting.
According to Metro Police, around 10 a.m. police received a notification from their ShotSpotter system that there had been multiple gunshots in the North Nellis Boulevard area near Las Vegas Boulevard. Shortly after, Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said there was a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Nellis.
Spencer said when police arrived at the scene, there was a black woman, in her late 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking garage at the resort. She was transported to UMC where she was pronounced dead.
“Officers have located a male who we believe will be the suspect and he has been taken into custody and at this time we are in the process of conducting these interviews,” Lt. Spencer said.
The ShotSpotter system is an audio gunshot detection system that uses sensors across the valley to alert police to the sounds of gunshots.
Spencer urges anyone who may have information about the shooting to contact them at (702) 828-3111 or contact CrimeStoppers at (702) 385-5555.
