Monorail to connect with Las Vegas Sphere

A new monorail station has been announced for the MSG Sphere, which is under construction behind the Venetian.

The 11,000 square foot platform will occupy both sides of the existing pathway at the northwest corner of the Sphere location just east of the Strip and connect to the pedestrian bridge between the Sands Convention Center and the sphere.

Construction of the new station will take about nine months, but neither a timetable nor a budget have been revealed. It’s also unclear whether or not this new development will affect ongoing efforts to extend the monorail to the south end of the Strip in concert with the opening of the Raiders’ football stadium.

Eataly all night: It has been announced that Eataly, the highly anticipated Italian market – restaurants, fast food outlets, bakery, cooking classes, wine tastings and retail – which will start on December 27 at Park MGM will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When it opens, the Las Vegas site will join 40 other Eatalys in Italy and around the world, including four in the United States (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston).

Jackpot: Two jackpots of over $1 million have been won recently on the Strip and none were on a slot machine. Blazing 7 Progressive Blackjack was hit in bets for $1 million when a player was dealt three sevens of diamonds. And $1.3 million was awarded to O’Sheas when a player hit a royal flush on the three-card poker progressive side bet. This is the third time the jackpot has been hit at the casino since 2015.

Question: Which casinos will have ice rinks this year?

To respond: Desert rinks will open this week at the Cosmopolitan, Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock Resort, Park between New York-New York and Park MGM, and the downtown shopping enclave of Summerlin west of the city. Prices vary, but are generally around $20 for all-day access.
