LVCVA Board of Directors considering independent monorail audit and advertising contract

An independent audit agency would review Las Vegas Monorail Co. items and inventory, monorail revenue and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority under the 2021 audit plan, a committee recommended on Thursday.

LVCVA’s Audit Committee further unanimously recommended a $ 51,500 contract with the Las Vegas office of BDO USA, LLC to perform an independent audit for the year ending June 30. An additional $ 6,000 is allocated to perform the annual third party audit of the receipt and use of lodging tax revenue for the growth and renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center District West Hall.

The LVCVA board will consider the suggestion of the audit committee at its meeting on Tuesday.

The authority had a long-term contract with Piercy, Bowler, Taylor & Kern as independent auditor, signing a five-year contract with annual renewals in March 2018. BDO acquired Piercy, Bowler, Taylor & Kern in July and 2021. audit will characterize the fourth year of the five-year contract.

Audits of the monorail company may be another step in the process, as LVCVA acquired the 3.9-mile electric transit system outside of the Chapter last year.

Auditors’ review of the LVCVA promotion contract began last year when a tender for a new promotion contract was interrupted by closures following the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to the monorail and promotional audits, BDO would review employee administration, the purchasing process, promotional supplies and an overview of common IT expertise if accredited by the full board next week.
