High school football pick: week 9
Southern Nevada’s high school football teams are heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, which means this week’s play list will be important in determining the playoff standings.
The pick column dropped to 11-3 last week and stands at 90-24 this season. Here are some predictions for week 9:
Valley at Rancho
Rancho, as he did last week beating Eldorado, manages to run the ball. Rancho 31, Valley 19
Battle of the Bulls: Tree View at Legacy
The rivalry games are always close. Arbor View 29, Legacy 20
Buttress at Canyon Springs
Foothill, unfortunately, leads the city in one statistic: matches are called off. Buttress 30, Canyon Springs 21
Palo Verde at Mgr Gorman
Remember when it was the game of the year? Bishop Gorman 52, Palo Verde 0
Desert pines from Faith Lutheran
Speaking of explosions from the past: Remember the playoff matches between these schools? Desert pines 33, Lutheran faith 16
Bonanza in Sierra Vista
Do three in a row for the Mountain Lions. Sierra Vista 45, Bonanza 11
Durango in Las Vegas
It’s hard to pick a team after a loss on the clock, but I’m sticking with the Las Vegas Wildcats. Las Vegas 38, Durango 16
Green valley at the centenary
Green Valley is recovering. Green Valley 41, centenary 10
Clark in Moapa Valley
It’s Clark’s first trip to Overton, and no one beats the Pirates in Overton. Moapa Valley 33, Clark 13
Pahrump at Eldorado
Go against one of my theories and choose Pahrump on the road. Pahrump 23, Eldorado 22
Del Sol at Basic
Wolves have lost their last two games to the buzzer. This week, they are winning in a landslide. Basic 29, Del Sol 6
Cheyenne at the desert oasis
No slowing down of Diamondbacks. Desert Oasis 39, Cheyenne 0
Shadow Ridge in Mojave
Shadow Ridge is unleashed. Shadow Ridge 50, Mojave 0
Chaparral at Cimarron-Memorial
No need to flip a coin here. Always take the Cowboys. Chaparral 22, Cimarron 20
Western to Virgin Valley
A ton of respect for how tough Western has competed this year. Virgin Valley 41, West 0
Coronado in Spring Valley
Cougars start to peak at the right time. Coronado 34, Spring Valley 6
Silverado at Sunrise Mountain
Serious question: who was the most dominant? Silverado in the 4A or Bishop Gorman in the 5A? Silverado 53, Sunrise Mountain 0
