Feeding the Las Vegas Valley

According to feedingamerica.org, it is estimated that one in nine Nevada residents suffer from food insecurity. In 2021, Nevada was ranked eighth nationally among states with the highest projected overall food security.

But what exactly is food insecurity and how can Las Vegas solve this complex problem?

Food insecurity, described as not having access to enough food to lead a healthy life, is the result of financial problems for many. For others, it may be the result of a lack of knowledge about health and food choices.

Whatever the cause, food insecurity can lead to chronic illnesses and mental health issues.

With the COVID-19 pandemic easing and inflation soaring, many say people need help now more than ever. 8 News Now’s special “Feeding the Las Vegas Valley” aims to share resources and knowledge that can help fight food insecurity.
